BC Ballot / How did my MLA vote? / Motion to go into Committee of Supply, 43rd Parliament, 1st Session

Motion that the Speaker do now leave the Chair, to go into Committee of Supply

The main budget motion, that the Speaker leave the Chair so the House can go into Committee of Supply and consider the estimates.

On budget day the Minister of Finance tables the estimates, the government's planned spending for the coming fiscal year listed by vote, and moves that the Speaker leave the Chair so the House can sit as the Committee of Supply, a committee of all members that examines the votes ministry by ministry. The Budget Speech follows the motion. Debate on the motion is the Budget Debate, capped at six sitting days by Standing Order 45A, with any amendment decided on the fourth day. Like the Address in Reply, it is by tradition a matter of confidence. In this session the estimates were for the year from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.
