BC election dates

The campaign, day by day

1. September 22 Past

   The election was called

   The writs were issued and the Legislative Assembly was dissolved the same day. Members stop being members at dissolution.

2. September 22 Past

   Offices opened

   Vote-by-mail packages could be requested at Elections BC from the day the election was called, and district electoral offices opened across the province. Offices were closed September 30 and October 12. Registration is open year round.

3. By October 1 Past

   Register to get a Where to Vote card

   Voters registered by then were mailed a card naming their assigned voting place. Registration itself never closes: you can register at the voting place with ID.

4. By October 14 Past

   Online and phone registration closed

   Named by the Chief Electoral Officer when the election was called. After it you register at the voting place, with ID.

5. 1 p.m. October 3 Past

   Nominations closed

   Elections BC posted the official candidate list for every riding. Candidates by riding

6. From October 16 Past

   Advance voting dates

   Advance voting ran October 16 to 21, 2026, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time, at any advance voting place in the province. Advance voting places by city

7. October 18 Past

   Last day to request a mail ballot

   Online or by phone. The package had to be back with Elections BC before 8 p.m. on Final Voting Day. Vote by mail

8. Final Voting Day October 24 Past

   Voting closed

   Voting places were open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The count began at 8 p.m.

9. November 3 Today
10. Final count November 6

    Results become official

    November 6 to 10, 2026. Elections BC counts absentee and mail ballots and certifies every riding.

11. Return Day November 18

    Writs returned

    Elections BC returns the writs and the election is formally over.
