About this site
BC Ballot is a reference for all 93 British Columbia provincial ridings: the sitting member, the 2024 result, what has been called, and how and where to vote. It is built and run by forelection.ca, which builds research briefs and websites for candidates. This site is the neutral side of that work. It endorses no one, is edited for no one, and accepts no political money.
What this site is not
- Not Elections BC. Elections BC is the independent office that runs provincial elections and is the authority on every voting rule. Where this site and Elections BC disagree, Elections BC is right and the page here is wrong.
- Not a campaign. Not affiliated with any party, candidate, caucus or campaign, and not registered as an election advertising sponsor. No page here promotes or opposes anyone.
- Not a forecast. Not a poll or a prediction. No page names a likely winner, a safe seat or a swing riding, because none of that is a fact this site can source.
- Not a registry. Not a place to register, check your registration or find your voting place. Those are Elections BC services, linked from how to vote.
Where the figures come from
Every number on the site is computed from a primary file, not copied from a summary.

Turnout here is valid ballots cast divided by registered voters, which runs slightly below the Elections BC figure because theirs counts rejected ballots.
A riding page shows every candidate and every recorded vote, or none.
The voting records
A recorded division is a vote in the Legislative Assembly where every member's name is written down. Yeas and Nays are the names printed under each heading in the Votes and Proceedings, counted. An absence is any division where the name is under neither heading: the Votes and Proceedings prints the two lists only, and does not distinguish a member who was away, abstained, was paired, was presiding, or is the Speaker, who by practice does not vote except to break a tie. Votes taken on the voices record no names and are not listed.
The Legislative Assembly states of its own documents: "The electronic version is for informational purposes only. The printed version remains the official version." The figures here are computed from those documents and are not an official record.
The label on each motion is the bill number, the bill's short title and the stage. The sentence under it is written from the bill's Explanatory Note and its first reading text, or from the motion as printed on the Order Paper, and checked against the bill text. No motion text from the Votes and Proceedings or from Hansard is reproduced here, and no summary sentence reproduces the wording of its source, which is the Legislative Assembly copyright term.
How to report an error
Write to [email protected] with the page, the figure and the source you think it should match; that address is not confirmed yet. A correction is made on the page and logged under Corrections with the old claim left visible.
Two kinds of message get the same answer either way: a request to add a candidate's campaign material, and a request to remove a sourced fact. Neither happens.
