How the night works

  1. 8 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2026 Polls close. The initial count that night: ballots cast in the voter’s own riding, reported by ballot box.
  2. November 6 to 10, 2026 Final count: mail, special and absentee ballots are added. Elections BC then declares who is elected.
  3. November 18, 2026 Return Day: the writs are returned.
  • Ballots cast outside the voter’s own riding (out-of-district) are reported for each riding as pending or complete.
  • Late ballots: about 66,000 were added after election night in 2024, and about 660,000 in 2020.
  • Elections BC’s own count is on Elections BC’s results page.

What the words mean

Leading
Ahead in the initial count. The seat is not decided.
Elected
Elections BC has declared the seat. BC Ballot never declares one itself.
Final
