Miscellaneous Statutes Amendment Act, 2025
Amends statutes in four ministry areas covering forests, housing and municipal affairs, post secondary education and resource stewardship.
A Miscellaneous Statutes Amendment Act bundles unrelated amendments from several ministries into one bill. In this one the Wildfire Act gains a rule that the minister must give notice and a chance to be heard before ordering a person to pay fire costs or penalties, within three years of the facts coming to light. The Local Government Act, Vancouver Charter and Local Elections Campaign Financing Act change nomination paperwork, ballot drop-off locations and how an elector organization's short name appears on a ballot. The Housing Supply Act reaches Vancouver's land use bylaws, the Professional Governance Act gets housekeeping changes, and the Wildlife Act defines aquatic invasive species as a class of controlled alien species.
